Turkey Chili

I found this recipe on another website, it is courtesy of LPGA World Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez. A very good low-fat chili.

Ingredients

5 serv.
  • olive oil1 tablespoon
  • red onion1 cup
  • minced garlic clove1 tablespoon
  • yellow bell pepper1⁄4 cup
  • ground turkey1 lb
  • crushed tomatoes1

    28 ounce, undrained

  • red kidney beans1

    16 ounce, drained and rinsed

  • chili powder1 tablespoon
  • sugar1 tablespoon
  • low sodium chicken broth2 cups
  • garlic powder1⁄2 teaspoon
  • hot sauce1 teaspoon

    (recommended Tabasco)

  • sea salt1 1⁄2 teaspoons
  • dried basil1 teaspoon
  • dried oregano1⁄2 teaspoon
  • cracker
  • cheese

Step-by-step instructions

    In a large skillet, sauté chopped onions, minced garlic and chopped bell peppers in olive oil over medium heat until onions are translucent.

    Add ground turkey and cook until browned.

    Add remaining ingredients and stir well to combine. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

    Serve with crackers and cheese.
