Sweet and Sour Peppers

This is a really quick side dish, and it's really tasty. Sometimes I eat it as a main dish over rice.

Ingredients

6 serv.
  • fresh lemon juice1⁄4 cup
  • tamari soy sauce3 tablespoons
  • honey2 tablespoons
  • hot sauce1 teaspoon
  • oil1 1⁄2 tablespoons
  • garlic4 teaspoons

    minced

  • ginger1 tablespoon

    minced

  • jalapeno1

    seeded and minced

  • scallions3

    whites minced, greens cut diagonally

  • red peppers2

    cut in squares

  • green peppers2

    cut in squares

  • yellow peppers2

    cut in squares

  • sesame seeds1 tablespoon
  • cornstarch1 1⁄2 teaspoons
  • cold water1 tablespoon

Step-by-step instructions

    Combine lemon juice, tamari, honey, and hot sauce, and whisk until smooth.

    Heat wok or other large saute pan on high.

    Add the oil, garlic, ginger, chili, and scallion whites, and fry for 15 seconds.

    Add peppers and fry for a minute.

  5. 5

    Stir in 1/2 of the scallion greens and sesame seeds, and the sauce.

    Bring to a boil.

    Combine cornstarch and cold water. Stir into the vegetables and cook for another 30 seconds.

    Serve topped with remaining seeds and scallion.
