Make your own homemade protein bars for a post-workout boost. They're made with protein powder, bananas, nut butter and a blend of seeds

Ingredients

8 serv.
  • porridge oats150g g
  • bananas2 small

    (about 160g), peeled and mashed

  • maple syrup100ml ml
  • almond, peanut or sunflower butter200g g
  • vanilla protein powder90g g
  • mixed seeds50g g

    plus 1 tbsp for the topping

  • vanilla extract1 tbsp
  • milk2 tbsp

    any kind (optional)

  • dark chocolate50g g

    melted

Step-by-step instructions

    Put the oats in a blender and blitz until they resemble flour. Add the mashed banana, maple syrup, nut butter, protein powder, the mixed seeds and vanilla extract. Blend again to make a thick dough, adding the milk, if needed, to bring it together.

    Press the dough into a 20cm square tin lined with baking parchment, ensuring it's in an even layer. Drizzle over the melted chocolate and scatter over the extra 1 tbsp mixed seeds and a pinch of sea salt flakes. Chill for 1 hr before cutting into bars. Will keep chilled for up to three days.
