Meat Balls in Onion Soup

These meatballs have oatmeal in them. They taste wonderful. It extends the meat with a healthy grain. I added the gravy mix to this because I use cheap French onion soup mix. If your French onion soup mix is beefy you don't need to add the gravy. You just want good flavor in your brown gravy.this is a little salty to me,so be aware but not to rudy who loves this

Ingredients

4 serv.
  • cup milk1⁄2
  • cup oatmeal3⁄4
  • egg1
  • teaspoon pepper1
  • lb ground beef1
  • tablespoons oil2
  • cup flour1⁄3
  • ounce brown gravy mix7⁄8
  • ounces French onion soup mix1 3⁄8
  • cups water2 1⁄2

Step-by-step instructions

    Heat milk and oatmeal in a mixing bowl until warm.

    Add egg; mix.

  3. 3

    Add salt and pepper; mix.

  4. 4

    Add ground beef; mix.

  5. 5

    Make 20 meatballs.

    Heat oil in skillet.

  7. 7

    Roll meatballs in flour.

  8. 8

    Drop in hot oil; brown.

  9. 9

    Mix gravy mix and French onion soup mix in water.

  10. 10

    Pour over browned meatballs.

    Cook 20 minutes on low.

  12. 12

    Mix 1/4 cup water with leftover flour; pour over meatballs.

  13. 13

    Cook 10 more minutes until gravy is thick.
