Do you love crinkle cookies? Try our special festive Christmas version with orange zest, spice mix and cinnamon – and don’t forget the classic soft centre.
Mix cocoa powder, granulated sugar and oil. Add eggs one at a time, beating until fully combined.
In a separate bowl, mix wheat flour, baking powder, orange zest, multi-spice, cinnamon and a pinch of salt, then add to the cocoa mixture and stir until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too soft, place it in the refrigerator to chill for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 190 °C/170 °C with convection/gas 5 and spread the powdered sugar in a shallow dish. Shape dough into balls about 20 g each using a teaspoon, then roll them in the powdered sugar. Place the balls on one large or two medium baking trays lined with parchment, spacing them evenly.
Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack – they will set while cooling, remaining soft in the centre. Store in an airtight container for up to four days.
