Chicken in hot garlic sauce

Ingredients

2 serv.
  • chicken breasts200 g
  • garlic, peeled and chopped1 tablespoon
  • red chili paste2 teaspoons
  • tomato sauce1 1⁄2 tablespoons
  • salt
  • ajinomoto (Chinese salt) (optional)1⁄4 teaspoon
  • sugar1 teaspoon
  • chicken stock1⁄3 cup
  • cornflour1 tablespoon
  • oil4 tablespoons
  • vinegar1 teaspoon
  • red capsicums, cut into cubes3
  • onion, finely chopped1 tablespoon
  • Marinade
  • egg1
  • teaspoon salt3⁄4
  • teaspoon ajinomoto (optional)1⁄4
  • tablespoon cornflour1
  • tablespoon oil1

Step-by-step instructions

    Cut chicken breasts into even sized pieces.

    Marinate them with the marinade in a bowl.

  3. 3

    Keep aside.

    Heat oil in a wok.

  5. 5

    Add garlic and the chilli paste.

  6. 6

    When the garlic turns golden brown after stir-frying it for a few minutes, add tomato sauce.

    Add capsicums and onion.

    Stir-fry for a minute.

    Add chicken breasts, salt, ajinomoto, sugar and stock.

    Dissolve cornflour in 2 tbsps.

    water.

    Add to the chicken.

    Thicken the sauce, stirring continuously and finish with vinegar.

    Serve hot with boiled rice or noodles.
