Ingredients

  • fresh broccoli1
  • scallion1
  • garlic3
  • beef broth1⁄4
  • low sodium soy sauce1

    40 percent less salt

  • cornstarch1
  • Splenda sugar substitute1

    or other measure-for-measure sugar substitute

  • minced cilantro1

    or 2 -3 tablespoons recaito (Recaito is a delicious cilantro-based seasoning sauce, usually found near other Mexican seasonings/s)

  • sesame oil1⁄2

Step-by-step instructions

    Trim broccoli and cut into florets (retain about 60% of the bunch).

  2. 2

    Rinse broccoli, shake off excess water and place in 3-quart microwave-safe casserole dish; set aside.

  3. 3

    Slice white scallion bulbs into rings and mince garlic.

  4. 4

    Stir together scallions, garlic, beef broth, soy sauce, cornstarch, Splenda and Recaito or cilantro.

  5. 5

    Pour sauce over broccoli, cover and microwave on high for 4 minutes.

  6. 6

    Stir broccoli, replace cover, and microwave on high for 3 minutes or until broccoli is desired texture and sauce has thickened to coat broccoli.

    Stir in sesame oil and serve hot.
