Country Beef Patties

These patties are good and quick. My family enjoyed these. The bacon gives a little smokey flavor, with the addition of the tomato gravy for a little zing.

Ingredients

4 serv.
  • ground beef1 lb
  • slices uncooked bacon, strips diced2
  • diced onion1 teaspoon
  • salt1⁄2 teaspoon
  • pepper1⁄8 teaspoon
  • TOMATO GRAVY
  • chopped green peppers2 tablespoons
  • chopped onion1 tablespoon
  • (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained1
  • bay leaf1 -2
  • sugar1 teaspoon
  • celery salt1⁄2 teaspoon
  • salt1⁄8 teaspoon
  • pepper1⁄8 teaspoon
  • water1⁄2 cup
  • tablespoons all-purpose flour2

Step-by-step instructions

    In a bowl, combine beef, bacon, onion, salt and pepper.

    Shape into four oval patties; brown in a skillet over medium heat. Remove patties and keep warm.

    Drain all but 1 tbl drippings; saute green pepper and onion in drippings until tender.

    Add tomatoes, bay leaves, sugar, celery salt, salt and pepper.

    Combine water and flour until smooth; add to tomato mixture, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Return patties to gravy. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Uncover and simmer 10 minutes longer. Remove the bay leaves.
