This is an easy and delicious way to prepare fresh sweet potatoes on the stove top. I have adapted this recipe from one I found in the "Mamma Dip's Kitchen" cookbook. This is a family favorite in my home.

Ingredients

6 serv.

  • cup butter, cut into pieces1⁄4

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

    Wash the ptoatoes.

  2. 2

Peel and slice them into 1/4 inch widths. Place slices in a bowl of ice cold water to keep their color.

  3. 3

Mix together the sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, pepper and flour in a seperate bowl.

  4. 4

Drain the ptoato slices and place them in a 3 QT pot.

  5. 5

Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the potatoes.

  6. 6

    Add the water and butter.

  7. 7

Let the potatoes come to a boil, reduce the heat, cover and let simmer until tender, about 20 minutes.
