I love the name of this recipe as well as I do the balls themselves. No baking is required to make these little goodies and they are great to add to a cookie tray or basket. Cooking time is actually cooling time.

Ingredients

  • cut-up dates1 cup
  • butter8 tablespoons

    1 stick

  • sugar1 cup
  • egg1

    slightly beaten

  • Rice Krispies2 cups
  • vanilla1 teaspoon
  • chopped nuts1⁄2 cup
  • flaked coconut

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Put the dates, butter, sugar, and egg into a large saucepan. Bring it to a boil, stirring it. When it boils, reduce the heat. Keep cooking and stirring for 10 minutes. It gets nice and thick.

  2. 2

Add the Rice Krispies, vanilla and nuts; mix well. Let this cool till you can handle it.

  3. 3

Using your hands, form teaspoons of this mixture into small balls. They should be about the size of walnuts. Roll these balls in the coconut and then chill them for awhile. Store in covered container.
