Giada's Crostini Alla Romana

A recipe from Giada de Laurentis as shown on her tv show "Everyday Italian" She used sage on her show, but I prefer basil.

Ingredients

4 serv.
  • ciabatta12

    1/2 inch thick slices

  • prosciutto12

    thinly sliced (about 6 ounces)

  • fresh mozzarella cheese1 lb

    cut into thin slices

  • basil leaves6

    fresh and roughly minced

  • salt1
  • fresh ground black pepper1

Step-by-step instructions

    Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

    Place the slices of ciabatta on a parchment lined baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Bake until crisp and golden around the edges, about 8 minutes.

    Remove the bread from the oven.

  5. 5

    Place the prosciutto slices and mozzarella on the crostini toast and return to the oven to melt the cheese, about 8 more minutes.

    Remove the baking sheet from the oven.

  7. 7

    Transfer the crostini to a serving plate.

  8. 8

    Sprinkle fresh basil over and serve immediatley.
