Pull out your air‑fryer to make this ultra‑creamy potato gratin. It makes a brilliant side for a Sunday roast beef or a festive Christmas table.

Ingredients

4 serv.
  • garlic clove1

    halved

  • butter1 tbsp tbsp

    softened

  • Maris Piper potatoes500-600g g

    peeled and thinly sliced

  • thyme leaves2 tsp tsp
  • double cream200ml ml
  • milk100ml ml
  • Gruyère50g g

    (or vegetarian alternative), grated

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Take a baking dish that fits tightly in your air fryer. You want it as large as possible, but still fit easily.

  2. 2

Rub the halved garlic clove over the entire inner surface of the baking dish. Add the butter and spread it so every surface is coated. Layer the potatoes in the dish, seasoning each layer with salt, pepper and a few thyme leaves. Continue layering until the dish is full.

  3. 3

Mix the cream and milk together, then pour over the potatoes. Cover the dish with foil and bake at 160 °C in the air fryer for 1 hour.

  4. 4

Remove the foil and sprinkle grated cheese on top. Bake for another 20‑30 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbling and the potatoes are completely tender when pierced with a knife.
