Preheat the oven to 180 °C/160 °C with convection/gas 4. Grease the bottom and sides of a 34 × 25 cm (minimum depth 2½ cm) pan with oil and line it with parchment. In a large bowl combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, soda, sugar and a pinch of salt. Crush the sugar lumps by rubbing them between your fingers, and tap the bowl so they rise to the surface.
Whisk together the oil, yogurt, cola and eggs in a jug, then add the wet ingredients to the dry. Mix well, ensuring no flour lumps remain, then pour the batter into the pan and bake for 30 min until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out dry. If the skewer is still wet, bake for another 5 min. Cool in the pan for at least 20 min.
For the glaze, melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from the heat and add sugar, milk and pink food colouring, stirring. Spread the glaze over the cake, then decorate with coloured sprinkles, cherries and candy if using. Let set, then cut into squares. Store in an airtight container for up to five days.
