Ingredients

4 serv.
  • ground beef400г
  • shallot1

    finely chopped

  • horseradish sauce1 ст. л. tbsp
  • dried mixed herbs1 ч. л. tsp
  • large garlic clove1

    finely grated

  • blue cheese40г

    (optional)

  • vegetable oil2 ч. л. tsp
  • burger buns4

    sliced

  • iceberg lettuce leaves

leaves, tomato slices and sauce for serving

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Place the ground beef, finely chopped shallot, horseradish sauce, dried herbs and grated garlic into a large bowl. Season with salt and black pepper, then mix thoroughly by hand, squeezing the mixture until it becomes homogeneous.

  2. 2

Divide the meat into four portions and shape patties about 3 cm thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty, place a piece of blue cheese (≈5 cm) and wrap the meat around it so the cheese is fully enclosed.

  3. 3

Transfer the patties to a plate, cover with film and chill for at least 30 minutes (or overnight). Then light the charcoal in the barbecue until it turns gray, or preheat a gas grill to medium heat.

  4. 4

Lightly brush the patties with vegetable oil on all sides and place them on the preheated grill. Cook for 5 minutes on one side until a light crust forms, then carefully flip and cook another 4–5 minutes to desired doneness (for medium, internal temperature 70 °C). After removing from the grill, let the patties rest for a few minutes.

  5. 5

Slice the prepared buns, layer them with lettuce leaves, tomato slices, the cooked patty and drizzle with your favorite sauce. Serve immediately while the burger is still hot.
