Want a true American dinner? Prepare a juicy T-bone steak with fragrant garlic and thyme. The T-shaped bone and marbled meat create the perfect flavor and texture – ideal for a festive table.

Ingredients

2 serv.
  • T-bone steak700 g
  • garlic cloves2

    minced

  • thyme½ small pack
  • olive oil½ tbsp
  • butter50 g

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 200 °C (180 °C with convection, gas 6). Place a heat‑proof grill pan over high heat, brush it with olive oil and season the steak on both sides with salt, pepper and your favorite spices. Then rub the meat with minced garlic and thyme. Put the steak in the hot pan and sear the bottom side for 2 minutes until characteristic grill marks appear. Flip, sear the other side, rub again with garlic and thyme and spread them over the meat.

  2. 2

When both sides are evenly browned, push the herbs to one corner, grab the steak with tongs and sear the fatty side so the fat melts and becomes soft – this takes a few minutes. Return the steak to a flat position, place a little more thyme, garlic and butter on top, then transfer the pan to the oven and finish cooking for another 4‑5 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 62‑65 °C (or your desired doneness).

  3. 3

Remove the steak from the oven, cover it with foil and let it rest for 5‑6 minutes. Serve on a wooden board or a large plate in the center of the table.
