Juicy sausage rolls flavored with apple and sage are ready in 30 minutes in your air fryer — an ideal snack that can be quickly doubled if you have a larger model or multiple trays.

Ingredients

6 serv.
  • pork sausages6
  • sage leaves10

    finely chopped

  • apple sauce2 tbsp
  • puff pastry320 g

    packet of ready‑rolled

  • plain flour

    for dusting

  • egg1

    beaten

  • caraway seeds2 tbsp

    (optional)

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Squeeze the sausage meat from the casings into a bowl, add the chopped sage, apple sauce, a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Mix and set aside.

  2. 2

Unfold the puff pastry, remove the parchment and place it on a lightly floured surface. Shape the meat into a sausage log and place it in the center of the pastry. The sausage should be 4‑5 cm thick and extend to the edges of the pastry.

  3. 3

Brush the long edges of the pastry with egg, then carefully fold it in half, wrapping the sausage and leaving a small overhang of pastry. Trim the excess and cut the roll into 6‑8 pieces with a sharp knife. Use a knife or fork to lift the edges. Brush the surface with egg again and, if desired, sprinkle with caraway seeds.

  4. 4

Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C and bake the rolls for 20‑30 minutes, until the pastry is golden and the meat is cooked through. Since cooking times may vary between models, check for doneness halfway and adjust the time if needed. The finished rolls can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.
