Use an air fryer to turn a simple lunch into a true gastronomic event – aromatic ham, tangy mustard and gentle maple syrup. Serve with a refreshing pineapple salsa and enjoy every bite.
Remove the ham from the refrigerator 45 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature. In a small bowl, combine Dijon mustard, honey (or maple syrup), add salt and freshly ground black pepper. Spread the resulting mixture over the ham, set aside any excess glaze in the bowl, and wrap the meat in foil.
Preheat the air fryer to 160 °C. Place the foil‑wrapped ham in the basket and cook for 1 hour, brushing with additional glaze every 20 minutes. Check doneness with a digital thermometer – the center should reach 70 °C. Remove the ham, unwrap the foil, crumple it into a ball and discard in a recycling container, then let the meat rest for 10‑15 minutes before slicing.
For sandwiches, slice a few pieces of the cooked ham. Butter the bread, spread 1‑2 tbsp of pineapple salsa on one slice, top with ham slices, and cover with the second slice of bread.
