This recipe came to me from Chef #143318 - thanks Jen!! She found it in a cookbook, "An American Celebration: Recipes and Traditions of Celebration, Florida" (submitted by Karen Bras of the University of Florida) So, in honor of my beloved Gators, enjoy!

Ingredients

36 serv.
  • baking cocoa1⁄4 cup

    MUD

  • milk, with1⁄2 cup
  • green food coloring

    SWAMP WATER

  • sugar2 cups

    CRUSHED BONES

  • butter1⁄2 cup

    FAT

  • rolled oats2 cups

    EVERGLADES GRASS

  • peanut butter1⁄2 cup

    SQUASHED MOSQUITOES

Step-by-step instructions

    Heat the mud, swamp water, crushed bones, fat, grass and squashed mosquitoes in a saucepan.

    Boil for three minutes, stirring constantly.

  3. 3

    Remove from heat and drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.

  4. 4

    Let cool until firm.

  5. 5

    Eat while watching the Gators play football on T.V.
