Sakowitz Ham Salad

One of my favorite lunch spots in Houston was the cafe at Sakowitz. I would go with my Mother and have the soup du jour with assorted tea sandwiches and fruit salad with poppyseed dressing. One of the tea sandwiches was filled with this delicious ham salad. I tried to recreate this ham salad many times and finally got this right. Hope you like it as much as I do--

Ingredients

6 serv.
  • cooked ham, diced3 cups
  • green onion, minced1⁄4 cup

    minced

  • celery, minced1⁄4 cup

    minced

  • mayonnaise1⁄4 cup
  • brown sugar1 teaspoon
  • fresh lemon juice1 teaspoon
  • parsley, minced3 tablespoons

    minced

  • freshly cracked black pepper
  • Worcestershire sauce1 teaspoon

Step-by-step instructions

    Finely chop the ham in a food processor.

    In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together well.

  3. 3

    Season to taste with pepper.

  4. 4

    Spread on crackers or bread.
