Make these tasty fruit skewers with kids. The recipe teaches children basic knife skills, helping them gain confidence in essential kitchen tasks.
If your cutting board lacks non‑slip grips, place a damp kitchen towel or a sheet of kitchen paper on the work surface, then set the board on top so it doesn’t slide.
Peel the banana – for small fingers it’s easiest to start from the bottom – then, holding the knife firmly with a “claw” grip, slice the banana into rounds. You should get about 12 pieces.
Remove the stems from the strawberries. You can cut them off with a knife or push a straw through the strawberry to the stem.
Hold your hands in a “bridge” position, cut the strawberry in half: hold each strawberry between the thumb and index finger, then carefully slice it from tip to tip through the stem.
Gently thread the banana rounds, strawberry halves, grapes and blueberries onto the skewers in any order – you can create a pattern or do it randomly.
For the sauce, mix the yogurt and maple syrup in a small bowl, then sprinkle with cinnamon and serve together with the fruit skewers.
