Cheesy Tater Tots Casserole

• bag frozen tater tots1 lb

  thawed and crumbled

• melted butter1⁄4 cup
• chopped and saute onion1⁄4 cup
• sharp cheddar cheese↗3 cups

  shredded, save back 1 cup for top of casserole

• sour cream↗1 pint
• cream of chicken soup1 ounce
• salt↗1 teaspoon
• pepper↗1⁄2 teaspoon
• chopped ham

  optional

• bacon bits↗

  optional

• green pepper↗

  optional

• Topping
• crushed corn flakes1 cup
• melted butter1⁄2 cup
