Ingredients

4 serv.
  • egg white1
  • quick-cooking rolled oats1⁄4 cup
  • chopped onion1⁄4 cup
  • dried rosemary1⁄2 teaspoon

    powdered is fine, too

  • salt1⁄4 teaspoon
  • alfalfa sprout1 cup
  • lean ground beef1 lb

    I use 93% lean

  • lowfat mozzarella cheese1 1⁄2 ounces

    1 slice

Step-by-step instructions

    Preheat the broiler.

  2. 2

    In a bowl, beat the egg white.

  3. 3

    Stir in the oats, onion, rosemary, and salt.

  4. 4

    Finely chop 1/2 cup of alfalfa sprouts and add to the mixture in the bowl.

    Add the beef and mix well.

  6. 6

    Make 4 3/4 inch thick patties and place them on an unheated broiler pan.

  7. 7

    Broil 2-3 inches away from heat for 6 minutes.

    Turn and broil for another 6-8 minutes or until they're as done as you like them.

    While the patties are broiling, cut the cheese into 8 strips.

    Place 2 strips criss-cross on each patty IMMEDIATELY when they're done broiling.

    Garnish the top of the patties with the rest of the sprouts.
