Mix the classic Bramble cocktail, essentially a gin sour boosted with a bright blackberry liqueur shot. We also have three variations – perfect for entertaining.
Shake the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup in a shaker together with a generous handful of ice cubes, then strain into a rocks glass (an old‑fashioned glass) with crushed ice. Pour the crème de mûre over the top so it “bleeds” into the drink. Garnish with a lemon slice and blackberry, if using. 3 VARIATIONS Fresh fruit Bramble This drink is best made when the bushes are singing with ripe fruit. First, muddle 6 blackberries in a rocks glass. Add 50 ml gin, 25 ml lemon juice, 25 ml sugar syrup and fill the glass two‑thirds full with crushed ice. Stir with a long spoon. Add more crushed ice, garnish and paper straws. Bramble royale Add glamour to your Bramble by pouring in a splash of champagne. Make the drink as usual, but reduce the amount of crushed ice by about a third to make room for the sparkling. Then add 25‑50 ml champagne, stir gently, add a little more crushed ice, garnish and serve. Peach sour The classic “sour” formula used by the Bramble can be easily adapted by swapping the liqueur. Try 12.5 ml crème de pêche instead of crème de mûre – it may not look as bright as a blood‑red Bramble, but it tastes just as delicious.
