Ingredients

2 serv.
  • Bramley apples1 кг kg

    peeled, cored and sliced

  • fine sugar250 г g
  • lemon½

    juiced

  • cinnamon stick1

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Place a small plate in the freezer. Transfer the sliced apples and fine sugar to a large saucepan, add 350 ml of water and bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.

  2. 2

Simmer over low heat, stirring regularly, for 30 minutes until the apples become soft and break down.

  3. 3

Add the lemon juice, cinnamon stick and simmer for another 2–3 minutes until the mixture thickens and becomes glossy.

  4. 4

Remove the plate from the freezer and drop a spoonful of the hot mixture onto it. Wait a few seconds—it should harden. If still liquid, return the saucepan to the heat and simmer for another 10–15 minutes. Then chill the plate again in the freezer and check—now it’s ready.

  5. 5

Pour the finished jam into clean, sterilized jars, seal with lids and store in a cool, dry place for up to three months. After opening, keep in the refrigerator and use within a month.
