Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 200 °C (convection 180 °C, gas 6). Peel the apples, remove the cores and cut them into bite‑size pieces. Place them in a heat‑proof skillet, add 50 g of sugar, 1 tsp ground cinnamon and 2 tbsp water. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes until the apples soften. If the skillet is oven‑safe, keep it in; otherwise transfer to a baking dish. Drizzle with caramel sauce.

  2. 2

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and the remaining sugar, and sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apples. Drizzle with melted butter so it absorbs the flour crumbs.

  3. 3

Transfer the skillet (or dish) to the preheated oven and bake for 45‑50 minutes until bubbles appear on the surface and a golden crust forms. Remove, let stand for 5‑10 minutes, then serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
