Experience the taste of classic British fish and chips made in an air fryer – crispy fish and golden chips, a quick dinner you’ll want to make again and again.
Combine cornstarch, smoked paprika, the dry herb blend, 1 tsp salt and ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper; spread the mixture on a large plate. Dredge the white fish fillets on both sides in the flour mixture. If you prefer to cook on the stovetop, see the tip below—the fillets are ready for frying.
Cut the potatoes into 1 cm‑thick chips with a sharp knife. You may leave the skin on or peel them, according to preference.
Transfer the chips to a large bowl, add 2 tbsp vegetable oil, a pinch of salt and pepper; toss to coat evenly. Set the air fryer to 200 °C and cook for 18–22 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the chips halfway through until crisp. You may also bake them in the oven (see tip below). Keep the cooked chips warm while you cook the fish, or cook them in a second basket if available.
Spread 4 tbsp vegetable oil on a large plate, toss the prepared fillets in it to coat completely. Set the air fryer to 200 °C and cook for 8–10 minutes, gently flipping the fillets halfway through. Serve with pea puree and tartar sauce, if desired. If the fish and potatoes were frozen, thaw them in the refrigerator and then reheat in the oven until hot.
