Plan ahead the balls need to chill for a minimum or 24 hours to develop flavors, don't even think about serving them before the specified time, they will have less flavor. Rum can be used in place of the bourbon. Make certain to crush the vanilla wafers to very fine. Chilling time is cooking time

Ingredients

  • finely crushed vanilla wafers10 ounces

2 1/2 cups, I use Nilla Vanilla wafers for this

  • confectioners' sugar1 1⁄4 cups
  • finely ground hazelnuts2 tablespoons
  • Bourbon1⁄4 cup

I use Jack Daniels for this or you can use rum also

  • cocoa powder2 tablespoons
  • corn syrup3 tablespoons
  • granulated sugar1⁄3 cup

you can roll them in confectioners sugar in place of granulated sugar if desired

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

In a medium size bowl mix together the vanilla crumbs, bourbon, cocoa and corn syrup until well combined.

  2. 2

Shape into small balls (using about 1 tablespoon mixture for each ball).

  3. 3

    Place on waxed paper.

  4. 4

Place the granulated sugar in a small shallow dish.

  5. 5

Roll the small balls in sugar to coat.

  6. 6

Place in a tightly covered container for a minimum of 24 hours to develop flavors.
