I made this recipe on accident when making German Chocolate bars. The original recipe calls for German Chocolate Cake mix, but I had forgotten when I got to the store and grabbed brownie mix instead. Here is my take on it.

Ingredients

12 serv.
  • brownie mix1

    (20 ounce) envelope

  • coconut pecan frosting15 ounces
  • chocolate chips1 cup
  • vegetable oil1⁄3 cup
  • water2 tablespoons
  • egg1

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 350.

  2. 2

In a mixing bowl mix, brownie mix, vegetable oil, water and egg.

  3. 3

Grease a 9"x9" baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

  4. 4

Pour half the brownie mix into the baking dish and bake for 10 minutes.

  5. 5

Remove from oven and sprinkle 1/2 the chocolate chips over the brownie layer.

  6. 6

With a teaspoon, drop spoonfuls of frosting over chocolate chip layer.

  7. 7

Pour remaining brownie mix over the top and sprinkle the remaining half of the chocolate chips.

  8. 8

Return to oven and bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

  9. 9

    Let cool and enjoy.
