Make this quick trifle in just five minutes using donuts, custard and summer berries.

Ingredients

8 serv.
  • donuts8

    cut in half

  • cream300ml ml
  • vanilla extract1 tsp tsp
  • powdered sugar4 tbsp tbsp
  • berries600g g

(strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries all work), thawed if frozen

  • custard500g g
  • toasted almond slices75g g

    (optional)

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Place eight individual deep serving bowls (or you can use one large bowl for the trifle). Cut the donuts into small pieces and distribute half of them into the bottom of each bowl.

  2. 2

Whip the cream, vanilla extract and powdered sugar to soft peaks and set aside.

  3. 3

Take a third of the berries and spread them over the top layer of donuts. If you are using strawberries, you may need to slice them. Spoon the custard over each bowl on top of the berries. Then add another layer of donuts, another third of the berries and pipe the whipped mixture on top with a spoon or pastry bag. Garnish with the remaining berries and toasted almond slices, if using. Keep refrigerated for up to three days.
