Cob off the Cob

I love corn but not crazy about eating it on the cob. I devised a way that I can enjoy fresh corn on my plate without the cob. I used a large bowl to work so you can catch all the corn. You should go back a second time with your knife to get all the tasty kernels. I included pictures to show the process.

Ingredients

6 serv.
  • fresh ears of corn6
  • water3⁄4 cup
  • milk3⁄4 cup
  • sugar1⁄2 teaspoon
  • butter1 tablespoon
  • salt1⁄2 teaspoon

Step-by-step instructions

    Remove husks and silk for corn.

  2. 2

    Rinse and dry each cob.

  3. 3

    With a sharp knife remove corn for cobs.

  4. 4

    In saucepan place water, milk and sugar.

  5. 5

    Bring to a simmer.

  6. 6

    Add kernels of corn; cover.

  7. 7

    Simmer app 15 minutes until cooked but still crispy.

    Drain and place in serving dish.

  9. 9

    Top with butter and add salt it you need it.
