Prepare these festive chocolate robin nests in less than 30 minutes. Made with cornflakes, they are perfect for getting younger children involved in the kitchen.

Ingredients

12 serv.
  • milk chocolate100g g

    broken into pieces

  • dark chocolate100g g

    broken into pieces

  • cornflakes100g g
  • icing sugar

    for dusting

  • paper cupcake liners
  • decorative robins

optional – find them in Christmas decoration shops

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Line a 12‑cup muffin tin with paper liners. Melt all the chocolate in a small heat‑proof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water, ensuring the bowl does not touch the water. Alternatively, melt it in the microwave in short 20‑second intervals.

  2. 2

Transfer the cornflakes to a large heat‑proof bowl and pour the melted chocolate over them. Mix well to coat. Spoon the mixture into the paper liners, creating a hollow in the centre of each with the back of a spoon to form a nest. Chill for 2 hours until set.

  3. 3

Dust the nests with icing sugar and, if desired, place a decorative robin in the centre of each (remove before eating). Store in an airtight container for up to three days.
