Make these simple charcoal tortillas to lift your usual Mexican dinner table. They consist of only three ingredients and are ready in 20 minutes.
Mix the flour and charcoal in a bowl with 1 tsp salt. Add the oil and 150 ml water to the dry ingredients to form a soft dough. Knead gently for 1–2 minutes.
Divide the dough into pieces of about 25–30 g and roll each into an ultra‑thin round sheet. Heat a dry pan on the stove until very hot, then fry each tortilla for about 30 seconds on each side. If you want to remove excess flour, you can lightly brush them with a damp pastry brush to highlight the charcoal’s black colour.
