  • corn starch1 tbsp tbsp
  • cherry juice45ml ml

    or water

  • glucose syrup250g g
  • food colouring gelred, blue and yellow

    red, blue and yellow

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Mix the corn starch with 1 tbsp of cherry juice, then pour the mixture into a small saucepan together with the glucose syrup and the remaining cherry juice. Heat gently over low heat, stirring well, then remove from the heat.

  2. 2

Squeeze a generous amount of red food‑colouring gel and mix well, then add a very small drop of blue and yellow gels and mix again. Aim for a deep dark‑red‑brown blood colour. Continue adding tiny drops of colour, mixing well between each addition, until the desired shade is reached. The edible fake blood will keep in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to three weeks. This recipe yields a thick, slow‑dripping gel. If a thinner gel is needed, simply add a little more cherry juice or water.
