This extremely simple and healthy snack adds a tasty smoky flavor to barbecue fun.

If your barbecue is not yet heated, light a fire and heat until the ash turns gray, or preheat a grill pan. Wash the green onions and pat dry. Trim the ends, then place the onions directly on the barbecue or in a hot grill pan.
When the green onions become soft and charred, remove from the heat and move them to a hot spot on the top of the barbecue so they stay warm before serving.
