Step-by-step instructions

   Preheat the oven to 325 °F. Prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions, adding the egg, oil, and water.

   Roughly crush the Oreo cookies in a large bag by hand or with a rolling pin. I like to leave some pieces fairly large. Add them to the batter and mix well. The batter will be thick.

   Pour the batter into a greased square baking pan (about 8×8 in) and bake for 30–40 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a knife into the brownies; if it comes out almost clean, they are done. If in doubt, I would say underbake!
