Beef and bacon meatloaf

Only five ingredients – and you’ll get a fragrant, juicy loaf combining the rich flavor of beef, smoked bacon and sage with onion. Perfect dinner for the family table!

  • sunflower oil

    for greasing

  • sage and onion stuffing packet85g g

    mix

  • beef bouillon cube1 piece
  • smoked bacon strips8 pieces
  • beef mince500g g

    (avoid very cheap; choose with less than 20% fat)

Step-by-step instructions

    Preheat the oven to 180 °C (or 160 °C for convection, gas 4). Grease the inside of a baking tin with oil. In a large bowl combine the sage and onion stuffing packet, crumble the bouillon cube, add 300 ml hot water and mix well. Set aside.

    Soften the bacon strips by running the back of a spoon along their length. Use 6‑7 strips to line the bottom and the long sides of the tin, and chop the remainder into small pieces.

    In a bowl with the beef mince combine the chopped bacon, the prepared stuffing, add a pinch of black pepper and mix thoroughly. Transfer the mixture into the bacon‑lined tin, press with a spoon to compact. Bake for 40 minutes until the loaf turns golden‑brown and is firm. Remove, slice into portions and serve.
