Apple Samosas – a Light Alternative to Traditional Pie

Juicy apple samosas are a quick, low‑calorie alternative to classic apple pie. Crispy filo pastry, aromatic festive filling and a light hint of yogurt make them perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

4 serv.
  • baking apples2

    peeled, cored and sliced

  • fine sugar50 г
  • ground spice mix1 ч. л.
  • raisins50 г
  • filo pastry sheets4
  • low‑fat margarine25 г

    (used Flora Light), melted

Step-by-step instructions

    Preheat the oven to 200 °C (180 °C with convection, gas 6). In a saucepan combine the apples, sugar, ground spice mix and raisins, add 2 tbsp water, cover and cook for 6 minutes until the apples become soft, stirring occasionally.

    Remove the saucepan from the heat, let the filling cool slightly, then spread it in a shallow dish.

    Cut the filo pastry sheets lengthwise into three equal strips and lightly brush them with the melted margarine.

    Place a tablespoon of apple filling onto the centre of each strip, then fold the sides up and form a triangular packet, sealing the edges.

    Arrange the prepared samosas on a parchment‑lined baking tray and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden and crisp.

    Serve warm with low‑fat yogurt or your favourite sauce.
