This is not a gourmet recipe. One of those that we can put together when the cupboard is getting bare and time short. Have made it often and even for guests - always well received. Of course you can make your own chocolate sauce which is always better. Preparation time does not include freezing time.
Allow ice cream to stand at room temperature to soften.
With rubber scraper, swirl liqueur into it just enough to make streaks; do not overmix.
Turn into 3 or 4 ice cube trays and freeze until firm - approximately 4 hours.
To serve: drain pear halves; arrange on glass serving dish, mound a scoop of ice cream in center of each pear and pour syrup over top.
Of course you can also do it in individual dessert dishes.
