Giant Bubble Solution Recipe

This isn't a food recipe; this is a recipe to make bubble solution for really large bubbles. My daughter & I made giant bubble wands using cotton string, wood dowels, eye bolts and a few washers (see Instructibles site). The bubble recipes that we tried didn't have enough stretch & most used corn syrup. I thought storing bubble soap containing that much sugar would be unsanitary. This bubble solution makes really large bubbles effortlessly.

Ingredients

1 serv.
  • hot water1 gallon
  • baking powder1 1⁄2 teaspoons
  • rubbing alcohol3 tablespoons
  • xanthan gum1 1⁄2
  • dawn liquid dish soap1 cup

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

In a large bucket mix the baking powder & very hot water.

  2. 2

In a seperate glass, mix alcohol & Xanthan gum to make a slurry.

  3. 3

While stirring the bucket of hot water mixture, slowly pour in the alcohol slurry.

  4. 4

Add Dawn & stir once more.

  5. 5

    Have fun!

  6. 6

p.s. Xanthan gum can be found in Publix (where the Uncle Bob's products are or in the organic foods section), Whole Foods & other crunchy organic type groceries. :) You can also substitute guar gum at the same measurements.
