Vitamins & minerals

Surimi contains some Vitamin B12, Vitamin D (often added during processing), and traces of Vitamin A. However, it's not a significant source of most vitamins.

How to choose

When selecting surimi, look for a firm, glossy texture. Avoid products that appear discolored, mushy, or have a strong fishy odor. Check the ingredient list – quality surimi should have a relatively short list, primarily containing fish, starch, sugar, and seasonings. Pay attention to the type of fish used (pollock is common and good).

How to store

Store surimi in the refrigerator at temperatures below 4°C (40°F). Once opened, consume within 2-3 days. It can also be frozen, but the texture may become slightly softer after thawing. Ensure it's tightly sealed to prevent freezer burn.
