Vitamins & minerals

Breadfruit seeds contain Vitamin C (moderate amounts), B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin), and some potassium. They are not a significant source of Vitamin A or Vitamin D.

How to choose

Look for seeds that are firm and pale in color. Avoid seeds that are shriveled, discolored, or show signs of mold. Freshly harvested seeds are best, but dried seeds should be hard and not brittle. The seeds should have a mild, slightly sweet aroma.

How to store

Fresh breadfruit seeds should be used immediately or stored in the refrigerator for a few days. Dried seeds can be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry, and dark place for several months. To extend shelf life, dried seeds can be frozen. Properly stored dried seeds can last up to a year.
